Which Nozzle
Do You Need?
Stop guessing. This guide walks you through choosing the right nozzle based on your job type, pipe size, and machine setup. Two minutes here saves you hundreds on the wrong tool.
Know Your
Machine Specs
Before choosing a nozzle, you need three numbers from your jetting machine. These determine which nozzle sizes and insert configurations will work.
How much water your machine pumps. Determines flow through the nozzle. Typical residential machines: 2–18 GPM.
How hard the water pushes. More PSI = more cutting and cleaning power. Typical residential: 1,500–4,000 PSI.
The nozzle must match your hose thread. Common residential sizes: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2". Victory Line 1/2" available online. Need 3/4" or larger? Email info@jetterprosupply.com for custom quotes.
Match the Nozzle
to the Job
Different jobs need different jet patterns. Here's what works for each common residential call.
Kitchen Grease & FOG Lines
Best nozzles: Traction (tight pattern, max pull), Cleaning (thorough wall scrub), Rotor (360° finish). For total grease blockages, add a Quattro or Rambo.
Root Intrusions & Total Blockages
Best nozzles: Rambo (3-in-1 drill/penetrate/propel), Twister (rotating cut), Quattro w/ Drill Point (penetrate hardened masses). For heavy roots: VN Grenade.
Residential Main Drain Lines
Best nozzles: Sewer Flush (rear-only, max pull), Traction (grease + debris), Cleaning (thorough wall cleaning). The Traction 1/2" handles 80% of residential mainline calls.
Laterals, Tight Lines & Small Pipes
Best nozzles: Ball Nozzle (round body navigates 90° bends), Egg Nozzle (compact for small diameter), Egg Devastator (forward jets in tight spaces). Use 1/4" or 3/8" sizes.
Post-Camera Finishing & Polish
Best nozzles: Rotor (360° rotating jet, streak-free walls), Flipper (flips debris off walls), Sewer Flush (final debris evacuation). The Rotor is the go-to finishing tool.
Choose Your Tier
Every nozzle type comes in different quality levels. Higher tier = more efficiency, longer life, more money per job.
Jets drilled directly into the body. ~30% efficiency. Affordable, simple, reliable for tight laterals and budget jobs.
$85–$120 per nozzle
Shop Tier 1 →Threaded replaceable steel inserts. 55–65% efficiency. Major step up for everyday mainline and grease work.
$170–$500 per nozzle
Shop Tier 2 →Titanium ceramic inserts, individual fluid channels. 80–98% efficiency. NASSCO certified. 5-year warranty.
$400–$1,100 per nozzle
Shop Tier 3 →Nozzle Type
