Direct Hit C38RS vs C43RS: Which Nozzle Should You Consider?

Illustrative product view. Images enlarged to show detail; not shown at actual size.

The C38RS and C43RS are different penetrator options, not interchangeable names. The useful comparison starts with their documented dimensions and front turbo geometry, then moves to your hose, access and exact configuration.

Two specifications to compare first

Manufacturer-listed body diameter and front turbo angle
Model Body diameter Front turbo angle
C38RS 38 mm, about 1.50 in. 24°
C43RS 43 mm, about 1.69 in. 30°

Direct Hit calls the C38RS its Extreme Short Penetrator and the C43RS its All Purpose Short Penetrator. These specifications come from the C38RS manufacturer page and C43RS manufacturer page. Inch dimensions above are rounded conversions.

Smaller body does not settle the whole fitment question

A nozzle body dimension helps you compare the tools, but it is not a promise that the assembled tool will pass a particular bend. Consider the complete package: body, connector, hose tail, carriage and any fitted ring. Ask for the assembled dimensions and the intended access conditions.

For a quote, describe the route as well as the pipe diameter. “Four-inch drain with a tight bend at the entry” gives the supplier a different problem to review than “four-inch straight run.” A photo of the accessible entry can help explain that difference without a long phone conversation.

Compare the configuration, not just the angle

The listed turbo angles identify a design difference. They do not, by themselves, prove which assembly will finish your job faster. Ask for a configuration recommendation based on your machine’s working flow and pressure, hose arrangement and obstruction.

Direct Hit documents alternative rear-jet and accessory arrangements. Check which one is included in the quote. Do not assume a ring or side-positioned carriage shown in a demonstration is standard equipment on every C38RS or C43RS package.

A practical way to request a recommendation

Send a short note with these five items:

  1. Your jetter model and its operating GPM and PSI.
  2. Hose inside diameter and total working length, including a leader.
  3. Pipe size and the bends or junctions the assembly must negotiate.
  4. The blockage you are trying to open.
  5. Your current nozzle and the specific limitation you want to solve.

Ask the supplier to name the recommended model, jetting and connection together. Keep those details on the quote so you can compare like-for-like packages and reorder the same setup later.

Which one belongs on your shortlist?

Compare both when their intended applications overlap with your work. Treat the 38 mm versus 43 mm body size and 24° versus 30° turbo angle as useful specifications, then have the full assembly checked. There is no reliable universal winner based on the model number alone.

Direct Hit is available from Jetter Pro Supply. Compare the C38RS and C43RS, or ask about your setup. JPS can configure these nozzles for a 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch hose connection; confirm the complete connection and machine fit. For the next step, read penetrators versus cutters and the jetter matching checklist.
