Will My Pressure Washer Work as a Sewer Jetter?
Most residential and prosumer pressure washers fall in the 2–4 GPM / 1,500–4,000 PSI range. That's the sweet spot for 1/4" and 3/8" jetter nozzles on smaller lines — kitchen, lateral, and short mainline runs up to ~3–4" pipe.
Two numbers decide everything:
- GPM (gallons per minute) moves debris and carries the nozzle down the pipe. More GPM = better flushing.
- PSI (pressure) does the cutting — grease, soft roots, scale.
Rule of thumb: GPM pulls the nozzle and clears the line; PSI breaks up the blockage. A nozzle rated above your machine's GPM will crawl or stall. A nozzle rated for far more PSI than you make just won't cut as hard — it won't hurt anything.

- A jetter nozzle sized to your hose — 1/4" NPT for smaller setups, 3/8" NPT for higher-flow machines.
- A jetter (sewer) hose — a thin, flexible hose that feeds down the pipe. Different from your pressure-washer surface hose.
- A hose connection that matches your machine's outlet to the jetter hose.

Why Not Just Buy a Cheap Amazon Nozzle?

Can any pressure washer run a jetter nozzle?
Most gas and higher-end electric units (2–4 GPM, 1,500+ PSI) will. Very small electrics under ~2 GPM will work on short, soft clogs but won't have the flow to pull the nozzle far or flush heavy debris.
